About Ms. Amy

Hi, I’m Ms. Amy! 

I’m a native English speaker from the UK, and currently live in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. I’ve previously lived in South Korea and the Netherlands, and have travelled to many different parts of the world.

I’ve taught English as a second language to a wide range of ages and backgrounds, from children to adults. I found that I preferred teaching adults, particularly business English students, as I can utilise my knowledge of the business world and incorporate it into my teaching.

I have taught both in-person and online, and have the skills to help you reach your English learning goals!

What makes English with Amy different?

I stand out from many other English teachers on the market as I not only have English teaching experience, but also business experience. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a Marketing Manager for a technology company. Having this experience of working in a formal business setting has helped to inform my lesson structure and planning. I can create insightful lessons to teach you language that you can use in your daily working life.

What can I expect from the classes?

Whether you want the lesson to be devised entirely by me or you have suggestions, I am open to your preferences. First, we will have a discussion about your goals. We can cover conversational, business, or English for job interviews – whatever your needs are, I can help!

I ensure there is lots of student talking time and conversation to improve your confidence and fluency. The classes are informal in tone, so you can feel comfortable to ask questions without hesitation.
